On March 3, 2018, I attended my first creative workshop coordinated and hosted by Jaimie Lauren. I decided to join because I wanted to connect with other creatives around the Twin Cities and most of all, to learn. I have only ventured professionally into photography within the past year and I was and still am eager to converse, and identify what I could do to become a better photographer and artist.
The day started with introductions and I was happy to see that we had a diverse pool of photographers from different backgrounds and different experience levels which I believe were key factors to this and any successful workshop.
Our models were a real life couple, Paige and Blake. They were amazing to work with and listened to each of the 11 photographers/videographers with ease and patience.
We started the day at Restaurant Alma in Minneapolis near St. Anthony Main. It is a cozy and quaint cafe/restaurant/hotel. It definitely had a European vibe, and reminded me of my time in Paris.
The day started from approximately 9:30 am until sunset. We spent about six hours or so at Restaurant Alma, here are a few of my favorites taken at the venue:
We packed up our bags and cameras and traveled to Lake Elmo Park Reserve around 3:30-4:00pm. It was my first time shooting at the Park Reserve and I was pleasantly surprised to see the limitless scenic areas we could use for photos. For a winter day in Minnesota, we were blessed by the photography gods with spectacular lighting and an even more spectacular sunset. It was an eventful day! and there were forces that tried to stop the creativity from happening, but again, the photography gods were on our side! ;)
Here are the photos from Lake Elmo:
I had such a wonderful time at this workshop and was so happy I took the leap to invest and connect with other creatives. It is amazing to see how much you can learn from just being around other people. A special thank you to all the wonderful people who made this event happen:
I left inspired and this experience made me want to host/coordinate my own workshop. If you are interested in being a part of something like this and to connect with other creatives in the Twin Cities, please contact me for a slot!
Thank you for visiting! See you soon!
